If you are trying to break into the adult (or child) coloring book niche with your low content / no content book business on KDP, and are not a graphic artist by trade, I have a very little known, but incredibly valuable secret for you. Some of the coloring pages you see in books on Amazon are not actually created by their authors. Shhh……
If you have been on Amazon doing any kind of low content / no content book research, looking for that perfect niche to break into, and not having much luck, consider the coloring book niche. They are a hot commodity, and have been for quite some time. It looks like a trend that is not going away anytime soon. Especially the adult coloring book niche.
Perhaps you have passed this niche up thinking you could never make a coloring book, after all, you are no artist. In fact, you can’t even draw a straight line with a pencil! Well, back up, and let’s revisit this niche in a whole new light. You don’t have to be an amazing artist, or have an eye for what looks good, all you need to know how to do is take already made for you pages, put them together in a themed fashion, do your keyword research (like with any low content niche), upload to KDP, and voila!
There are actually done-for-you coloring pages made by very talented graphic artists and creative people you can use in your books. In this post, I have compiled a list of my favorite ones, some are free, some are paid, but they are all made by very generous, talented artists, and will be an asset to your low content book publishing business.
PLR Resources To Use In Your Coloring Books
Color Monthly – Color Monthly is one my favorite go-to resources for beautiful, high quality coloring pages. You can add gorgeous images and value to your planners and journals with so many options to choose from. Below are just a few of my favorite packages:
BoHo Owls – If you like owls, this is the perfect PLR coloring package for you. 30 PDF and JPG high quality, coloring pages with a variety of owl designs in zentangle designs.
Bible Psalms Coloring Pages – For those of you who love the book of Psalms, and want to help spread the message of the Bible, this is a great coloring package to create a themed Bible verse coloring book. I am hoping they come out with more of these packages with verses from other books of the Bible also. Maybe Proverbs!
Butterfly Fairy Coloring Pages – I seriously cannot get enough of these beautiful designs. If you love butterflies and fairies, this one is for you. Check out just how beautiful these pages are. Whoever designs these is uber talented.
Marvelous Mandalas Coloring Designs – If you love Mandalas, these are just perfect. Mandalas make great stand alone designs, as you can create Mandala specific coloring books, or you can use them as backgrounds to place wording on top. Check out this post to see how I use backgrounds to create word themed coloring pages.
Creative Fabrica KDP Coloring Pages – Creative Fabrica is the go-to resource for most KDP low-content book creators. They have just about everything you could possibly need for your business, from cover design elements, interior designs, activity, and coloring pages. If you click the link, it will take you to a search results page that shows results for all KDP coloring page listings. These sellers have created these designs specifically with the coloring book creator in mind, so take a look!
Public Domain Vectors – This page shows over 1000 results for free coloring book vector images in the Public Domain. Just be sure to search the web for any images you find on this site, or any free image site, to confirm they are truly free to use for commercial purposes. Sometimes people will upload images to these ‘free image’ sites that aren’t truly free.
Hope this got your wheels spinning a bit with all the possibilities for creating coloring books on KDP. (Or any other publishing platform of your choice.) Using coloring pages from the resources above, coupled with Canva, my all time favorite drag and drop, free, super easy to use, online graphics program, (can you tell I love Canva?) you should be off to a great start!
Let me know if you have any other resources (paid or free) that you use to create your coloring books!
