How to Quickly Upload A Custom Font To Canva – {Step-by-Step Tutorial}

Canva has a lot of really nice fonts in their software, for both free and paid users. However, there are times, as creators, we need something they might not have. Fortunately, you can upload your own custom fonts to your Canva account quickly and easily, and use them in any of your design projects.

In today’s video, I walk you through how to download font files onto your computer, and then upload them into your Canva account so you can easily access them for your designs.

Hey everyone, it’s April from Indie author Central and today I am going to show you how to upload a font to your Canva account.

I’m going to go ahead over to a site I discovered not too long ago that I am really enjoying. It’s called bvfonts.com and there are some free fonts you can download.

Today we are going to go ahead and download one of these fonts. These are some of the ones that they offer for free, which is really cool. I saw one that I really liked and I’m just going to go ahead and click on it and go down to the description.

As you can see, the description says the price is free, and I’m always going to read my terms of use before doing anything. This one says all free fonts at bvfonts.com are freeware you may use them in personal or commercial work, so I’m going to go ahead and download it.

When I hit the download button, it’s going to download as a dot zip folder. I’m going to go ahead into my downloads and I’m going to extract those fonts.

I’m going to unzip them. They then just unzip right to my downloads folder and I can actually see what they look like in the preview. This is what I’m going to be uploading into my Canva account, all these cool, different versions of this font.

Now I’m going to go ahead over to my Canva account. I’m going to create an 8×11.5″ canvas because that’s a pretty standard worksheet size. I’m going to go ahead over here to text, click on it, and I’m going to upload this font.

I can do this either by going here to Untitled brand kit and uploading, or I can bring in some text by hitting one of these examples and then going up to my text box. At the bottom where it says upload a font, I can upload.

I’m going to go ahead and click on that, and I’m going to click on a font that I want to upload. I navigate to it in my downloads folder, and then I go ahead and open it and it is going to upload.

It then just asks me to confirm that I have the rights to upload it, I’m going to say yes. I click this and it uploads my font. It takes a couple seconds and then I can go ahead and highlight my fonts, and then go up here to my fonts and scroll down to my uploaded fonts.

I’ll go all the way to the bottom and I see where my uploaded font has landed. I click on that and there I can change any text into that font I just uploaded.

That is how you upload a font to your Canva account. I have a pro account. I am not sure if you can upload a font into a free Canva account or not. I have a Pro account where I pay $12.95 a month.

For me, it’s totally worth it because I do a lot of creating each month. I’ll leave a link in the description to Canva so you can go ahead and create your own Canva account. Canva has a free account and there are a ton of things you can do with a free account.

Like I said, I’m not entirely sure if you can upload a font or not with a free account, but I’ll put a link to Canva and also a link to anything else I talked about in this video, like BV Fonts.
