To self-publish your book on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), you will need to follow these steps:
- Create a KDP account: Go to the KDP website (https://kdp.amazon.com/) and click on the “Sign In” button in the top right corner. If you don’t already have an Amazon account, you will need to create one. Once you have signed in, click on the “Books” tab at the top of the page and then click on “Add a New Title.”
- Enter your book details: On the “Add a New Title” page, you will need to enter information about your book, such as the title, author name, description, and categories. You will also need to choose a language for your book and select the territories in which you want to sell it.
- Upload your book files: Next, you will need to upload the files for your book, including the text and any images or graphics. KDP supports a variety of file formats, including .doc, .docx, .html, and .pdf. You will also need to choose your book’s trim size, font, and margin sizes.
- Set your book’s pricing and availability: On the “Pricing and Royalty” page, you will need to choose a price for your book and decide whether you want to enroll it in KDP Select, which is a program that offers certain promotional benefits in exchange for exclusivity. You will also need to choose the territories in which you want to sell your book and decide whether you want to make it available for Kindle Unlimited and the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library.
- Preview and publish your book: Once you have finished entering your book’s details and uploading your files, you can preview your book to make sure it looks the way you want it to. If you’re happy with the way it looks, you can click the “Publish Your Kindle eBook” button to make your book available for sale on Amazon.
It’s important to note that self-publishing on Amazon KDP is just one aspect of the self-publishing process. You will also need to consider factors such as editing, cover design, marketing, and distribution in order to successfully self-publish your book.
