Mae Lloyd
I am excited to share a conversation with Mae Lloyd, a Christian author whose inspiring journey of faith has touched the hearts of many. Mae’s story is one of transformation, healing, and surrendering to God’s will. In her book series, The Jericho Walls Breakdown Experiences, she guides readers through breaking down their own barriers and finding hope, forgiveness, and renewal in their lives.
In this interview, Mae opens up about her personal struggles, her deep faith, and how she found her calling in serving others through her writing and ministry. Join me as we dive into her story and learn how faith can guide us all on our journey toward spiritual growth and healing.
Mae, thank you so much for being here with us today, I am so excited to find out more about you, and how your series came to be.
Can you start by telling us a bit about yourself and your background?
My name is Mae Lloyd, originally from Riegelwood, North Carolina. My passion is helping others, especially those who are in need of food, shelter and concrete guidance.
What inspired you to write and self-publish your book?
I was inspired by a children’s book author with whom I shared my past experiences of childhood and discussed my journey through a broken, abusive marriage. I realized I had to run, not just to save my own life, but to protect the future of my children.
Can you tell us a little bit about your books?
My books are written to encourage those who, like me, were orphans—adopted, and both mentally and physically mistreated. I write for displaced wives who have endured every form of abuse, even being beaten in the street like a common dog. For those who have been shot at or hit by a car by the very man they married for better or worse, I want my story to offer hope.
The most important reason for writing my book series is to show that, through the strength of wisdom and the examples of love that our Heavenly Father blesses us with, we can find hope. God gives us guidance and makes a way out of impossible situations if we ask Him. When we reflect His unconditional love and choose to forgive, we can experience His saving grace.
How do you hope that your book will impact the lives of those who read it?
I believe that testimonies shared from the heart, guided by our Father, God Elohim, can provide strength to those going through turmoil. These stories offer the reassurance that, with God’s help, we can say, “I can do this” and remember that we are never alone—just as Jesus promised He would never leave us.
My books are written to encourage readers to believe and know that, spiritually, I am walking with them as they read each word in the seven chapters of the seven books I am currently writing.
How has your faith influenced your decision to write and self-publish a book?
As I continue on this journey, each book I’ve written has deepened my faith and taken it to new heights. My beliefs have grown beyond what I ever imagined, and I feel so humbly blessed. The theme of my books reflects this growth—each one is a testimony and a blessing, telling the story of my life’s journey through The Jericho Walls Breakdown Experiences. I trust fully in God, Elohim, knowing that everything He desires for me to do will be manifested in His perfect timing.
Do you have any plans to write any future books?
Books 2 and 3 are available on Amazon, and I’m currently finishing Book 4, which is almost complete. The remaining three books will be finished soon, according to God’s will.
What was your experience like self-publishing?
I encountered some very discouraging, money-hungry people along the way. Everything seemed like it could have stopped me in my tracks. However, I have not given up, and despite the struggles, I remain on the battlefield, pressing forward.
What were some of the challenges you faced during the self-publishing process?
I hired a publisher who held onto my manuscript for over a year without responding to my calls or emails. When I finally got it back, I found that parts of my book had been deleted or scrambled, forcing me to rewrite almost the entire thing from scratch.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to self-publish their own work, particularly in the Christian genre?
To pray and stay focused.
Where can readers find you and your books?
You can find me on Instagram and TikTok, as I’ve noticed that many young mothers and fathers are active on those platforms. I also have a website, maelloyd.com, where you can learn more about my work. Additionally, my books are available on Amazon, and you can check them out here.
