Writer’s Forums – Connect, Promote, And Learn!

Writer’s forums are one of the best tools in your arsenal of book marketing weapons because they give you an opportunity to connect with other authors, share ideas, promote your book links, and get really great advice you probably wouldn’t have thought of on your own!

I wanted to quickly tell you about a few awesome forums that can really help boost your writing skills as well as help you promote your books. There is no cost to join any of them.

Kindle Boards

This is a forum literally dedicated to all things Kindle. If you scroll down to Writer’s Cafe, you can join in the conversation with other Kindle authors, ask questions, give advice, and promote your work. If you feel comfortable revealing your books to other authors, this board allows you to actually include pictures of your book covers in your signature.

Some writers obviously don’t want to reveal their niches, but for those of you who just want to get your work out there, this is an excellent opportunity! You will learn the ins and outs of publishing on Kindle through relevant and helpful discussion.

Absolute Write Water Cooler

This discussion forum is for all writers, not just Kindle. It’s filled with a plethora of writing knowledge and expertise from writers at all levels of their career. You will get solid advice from both a self publishing point of view as well as a traditionally published point of view. There are sub boards for different genres as well as different publishing platforms. At the time of this writing, there are 46,716 active members.

This forum also allows for self promotion. In their Newbie Guide, the owner states the following:

We actually LIKE you to link your blogs, books, writing-interest sites, and so on. We firmly believe it helps build community, creates stable information environments, improves education, and strengthens relationships.

Of course, there are guidlelines, just like every other forum, but being able to link to your books and blogs is an incredible promotional tool you don’t want to miss out on. Be sure to read the entire Newbie Guide before registering.

E Publishing Mastermind Forum

The following is the description on their site stating what the forum is all about:

The E-Publishing Mastermind Forum is a group of people who publish ebooks, audiobooks etc for the Amazon Kindle especially and also other platforms such as Nook and Apple. The aim of the group is to share ideas on e-publishing and help each other promote our content through doing things like downloading books, writing reviews, liking and tagging. At the moment there is huge power to help each other sell a lot of copies of our products since the rankings are determined by group “votes”. When your product gets a lot of votes (ie. sales, reviews, likes and tags), Amazon takes over the promotion of it by making it highly visible to buyers, such as through best-seller lists and cross promotion (eg. “People Who Bought this Item Also Bought …”) However, if you just upload your book and hope that it sells well, the chances are that it die through lack of visibility. The bottom line is that you need to leverage the power of some group to be a successful e-publisher.

This forum is a newer forum, but the growth has been very steady and new members are joining every day. Being a part of this community is an amazing opportunity for anyone to network with other authors and share ideas with other brilliant minds.

Kindle Forum

This is another forum that is dedicated primarily to Kindle publishing. The focus is on discussion revolving around book marketing and promotion. This is a community where you will discuss how to how to create, publish, market, and sell your ebooks on Amazon Kindle and other large ebook market places.

There is also a blog that is updated on a regular basis with highly valuable self publishing information.

As I learn of and participate in more valuable writer’s forums, I will continue to update this page, so bookmark it and check back once in awhile!

To Your Success,

  1. Hi April – Thanks for mentioning my forum in your post (kindleforum.co). :)

  2. Hi April!

Thanks for this wonderful post! I”ll definitely try to promote by kindle book via all these forums. Can you also teach how to promote books in Goodreads.com? It seems that Amazon has recently partnered with them to promote kindle and other format books!
