Meet Author Richard Young

author-richard-youngToday we are interviewing author Richard Young. Richard has had an extremely adventurous and exciting life traveling all over the world, having the privilege of photographing and writing about all the different people he met and places he visited. Starting his career in the army, his expertise soon led him to video, film, and the very stunt filled position of aircraft photography.

Let’s get straight to the interview!

1. Tell us a little about your background.

I have been involved in aviation since I learned to fly at 19. In the Army I worked my way into being a Huey Crew Chief while flying several fixed wing aircrafts and one or two helicopters, which then lead to working with an aircraft manufacture as a photographer. Eventually I found myself flying all over the United States and a few countries in Europe taking pictures using Film and Video. After I retired from that life I started to write about the things I have seen and the people I have met.

2. Why did you become a writer?

More than once I found that interesting stories were right there in front of me and some of the stories could change the perception of what people believe. Flying over the great south west I found beauty in the vast and rugged unpopulated areas. Nature is awesome, especially at low altitude where I worked filming other aircrafts. My pictures could not tell the full story, and even with descriptive words it is difficult to tell everything.

3.  Do you primarily write fiction or non fiction?

My primary work is now in fiction. However, even fiction that I have written seems to become fact, case in point, my last book Maelstrom.

4. What have you written?

Maelstrom: The Downing of Eagle21 was developed from an aircraft accident investigation that I was part of in Europe. Funny thing about this book after it was written it caused me to write a ‘Prequel’ called Nobel Intent. Of course, I did not know that my fiction would become fact with the shoot down of MA17 in a war zone.

5. Where can we find your books?

Maelstrom: The Downing of Eagle21 is free and found a Amazon, Kobo, Scribd, Smashwords and Barns &Noble. You can find all of my work on my website at Eagle Publishingwhere you can sign up to get your copy of the book that started it all, Noble Intent The Cobra Attacks, as well as be notified of new releases.

6. Tell us about your most significant achievement as a writer.

No question… Maelstrom is one of those achievements that will be hard to top; I like to re-read it every other week.

7. Do you have any upcoming projects in the works?

Now I am forming the third book, and last, of the Guardian series with a working title of The Guardian Conundrum. It will have more twists than a sisal rope. Funding is the next step.

Richard, thank you so much for taking the time to share your work with us here at Indie Author Central. Sounds like your books offer a glimpse into your exciting journey, and judging by your reviews, your readers also thoroughly enjoy that journey! Keep up the good work.
